Purpose of Data Cleaning

Data only have potential value that is realized when someone uses the data to do something useful. 

The eminent goal underlying data cleaning is to:

Assure the data are useful and functional toward the intended end analysis.

There are seven key purposes data cleaning should serve in delivering useful end-user data:
